Anne-France Fulgence Fine Art

Anne-France Fulgence is a fine artist based in Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales who came to Designmodule with a brief for a website to showcase her artwork and promote her profile.

Designmodule came up with an unusual, asymmetrical design to reflect the dynamism and individuality of Anne-France's paintings, where form is subservient to but enhances the content.

While the site needed to be compatible now with a wide range of browsers, Anne-France wanted the site to be a long-term investment - backwards compatible while being easily update-able in the future and also future-proof.

Content is king

Simplicity
Designmodule delved into art history to find inspiration for the Affulgence site and found it in the work of Russian Constructivists with their concentration on simple forms resonantly laid out in stark primary colours. Black and shades of grey were chosen as site colours to offset and highlight the vivid colours of the works on display.

Future-proof
Designmodule decided on using hand-coded XHTML Transitional for this site, as it is a future standard for all hypertext documents and yet works well on current and past browsers. When XHTML Strict matures we will transition the site to that markup standard.

Google-friendly
All content is searchable and optimised for search engines. Every separate page of artwork is searchable in Google, yet brings the viewer back to the home gallery if found through Google. No orphaned pages, easy searching and clear navigation means a seamless user experience.
